The NASCAR Cup Series is returning to Winston-Salem’s Bowman Gray Stadium for the first time since 1971 this weekend when the historic facility hosts The Clash season kickoff exhibition race, but the track won’t be entirely historic.

NASCAR took over the operation side of the facility last year and has made a few modern upgrades.

Along with installing new lighting, NASCAR tore down the quarter-mile track’s iconic red and white striped metal guardrail and replaced it with a SAFER barrier and catch fence.

But it didn’t just toss the guardrail in the trash. The Pit Shop store is now selling pieces of it in commemorative displays.

There is a framed photo and track logo collage for $199.99, large and small desktop display cases for $119.99 and $89.99 and a photo plaque for $59.99.

The pieces are in the same condition as when they were torn down, complete with wear and tear from being hit by cars battling on the rough and tumble track. The races at Bowman Gray are notoriously fierce and often lead to post-race fights between drivers and sometimes even between cars.

There’s no telling how The Clash will go, but there’s a good chance NASCAR’s “let ’em race” policy will be in full effect.

The two-day event will includes qualifying races on Saturday night starting at 8:30 p.m. ET, which are followed by a last-chance qualifying race and the feature on Sunday, which kicks off at 6:00 p.m. ET.
