Ford is coming for Ferrari … and everyone else.

Ford Chairman Bill Ford announced on Thursday that the brand is developing an LMDh car that will be ready in time for the 2027 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Ford currently competes in the GT3 class with a Mustang race car, but hasn’t entered the top prototype class since winning it for the fourth year straight in 1969.

Mr. Ford didn’t get into any details about the car or even show a teaser image, but the car will run the full World Endurance Championship (WEC) series.

Ford’s effort to win Le Mans in the 1960s was famously chronicled in the film “Ford v Ferrari” that starred Matt Damon as Carroll Shelby and Christian Bale as driver Ken Miles.

Ford will be competing in the top tier of motorsports in 2026 when it hits the Formula 1 grid as the power unit parter with Red Bull Racing, but there was no mention if that partnership would have anything to do with the LMDh car effort.
