Truck owners can’t have all the fun.

The Raptor line of Ford pickups and SUVs has been a big hit for Ford since the first 2010 F-150 SVT Raptor was literally launched with its high performance off-road suspension system.

The F-150 Raptor is now in its third generation and there are Ranger and Bronco Raptors to go with it.

Now CEO Jim Farley says Ford is thinking about taking it to the next level with a purpose-built Raptor he refers to as a “supercar.”

“We’re in the middle of creating something, so we don’t have all the answers yet, but the question is should Ford make an off-road supercar? Not a version of a car, a standalone supercar,” Farley recently told Top Gear. Ford has already created something like this, but just for off-road racing. The Raptor T1+ that it entered in the 2025 Dakar Rally shares little but its name with any of the production trucks.

Farley wants Ford to become “the Porsche of off-road” as it grows its lineup of specialty performance vehicles and he told Top Gear one of the great things about Raptors is that they are more comfortable to drive on the street than many sports cars thanks to their compliant, but controlled suspension systems.”

Porsche itself has already dipped its toe into the segment Farley is talking about with the 2023 911 Dakar, which is a 911 with a rally-style off-road suspension and other tweaks. Ford already makes something like that in the guise of the electric Mustang Mach-E Rally.

“Yes, the Raptor T1+ at Dakar represents the ultimate Raptor in many ways, and we’re learning a lot from that both in terms of the competition but also in terms of feedback from customers, so all I can say is stay tuned…”

Ford’s U.S. dealers have already been given a sneak peek of one potential future off-road Ford. During their annual meeting in Las Vegas last August, Farley reportedly showed them an off-road version of the Mustang coupe that was along the lines of the 911 Dakar and in consideration for production along with a four-door Mustang.
