Tesla has raised the price of its Model X SUV by $5,000 across the lineup.

The Model X now lists at $84,990 for an All-Wheel Drive trim and $99,990 for a Plaid performance trim.

Tesla did not announce the reason for the adjustment, but also raised prices on the Model S sedan by $5,000 in December.

Both come with one major perk, however, as the original owner gets free use of the Tesla Supercharger network for life. Tesla sporadically offers this incentive and there is no deadline listed to get the current deal.

The new price for the All-Wheel Drive Model X puts it over the $80,000 limit for the $7,500 federal tax credit that is available for electric SUV and truck purchases. The threshold is $55,000 for cars.

The price changes for the two luxury models comes in contrast to what’s been happening with Tesla’s other models, where it has recently announced cuts to lease prices for the Model 3, Model Y and Cybertruck.

The Model Y was the world’s best selling vehicle in 2024, but Tesla’s overall global sales dropped 1.1% to mark its first downturn in a decade.

Independent reports suggest 2025 is off to a bad start with deliveries in China and several European countries down sharply amid growing competition in the electric vehicle space and backlash against CEO Elon Musk’s recent political activities.
