Chase Briscoe Wins Daytona 500 Pole For Toyota

Not a bad first day on the job!
New Joe Gibbs Racing driver Chase Briscoe won pole position for The Great American Race on Sunday with the fastest times in both rounds of qualifying.
Briscoe’s pole marks the first ever for Toyota in the marquee event since it entered the Cup Series in 2007.
Briscoe will line up on the front row alongside Team Penske’s Austin Cindric, who qualified second.
Single-car qualifying also locked in two of the nine non-chartered open cars, which will be Martin Truex Jr. in the No. 56 and Jimmie Johnson in the No. 84.
Speedweeks now moves to Thursday night’s Daytona Duels, which will set the starting order behind the front row drivers and decide which of the open cars make the 40 or 41-car field.
IndyCar driver Helio Castroneves is entered as a new Open Exemption Provisional, which guarantees him a spot in the race. However, if he doesn’t qualify in on time, a 41st position will be added for him, but his car will have to forego any points or prize money won in the race.
