There’s no replacement for displacement, except maybe for a supercharger.

Hennessey’s latest tuned Ford Mustang is called the Super Venom and features an 850 hp supercharged version of the Mustang’s 5.0-liter V8.

The motor also cranks out 650 lb-ft of torque and the full build, which includes bodywork modifications and other equipment, can be ordered for either a Mustang GT or Mustang Dark Horse for $149,950 and $163,950, respectively.

Hennessey advertises it with a 3.2-second 0-60 mph time and 10.9-second quarter-mile at a 133 mph trap speed. To demonstrate what that looks like it pitted a Super Venom against a stock Dark Horse in a drag race.

The video shows the white and black cars going at it in three runs. Two from standing starts and one from a roll. The exact distance and time for each race isn’t shown, but the Super Venom leaves the Dark Horse in its dust all three times and is still pulling away at the line. It’s not a surprise, as the stock car has just 500 hp, but the visualization of what that extra 350 hp can do is something to see.

Ford may soon have something from the factory that can compete with it, however. An allegedly leaked UAW document that was recently posted to Reddit says that a new Mustang Shelby GT500 is slated to launch for the 2026 model year.

Ford hasn’t confirmed the model yet, but the previous two iterations of the GT500 had 667 hp and 760 hp supercharged V8s, so it’s not a stretch to assume the next one will be even more powerful.

The upcoming Mustang GTD uses a version of the last GT500’s 5.2-liter V8 that is rated at 815 hp, but the $325,000 model is positioned more as a supercar meant to compete with the likes of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS rather than muscle cars at the drag strip.

Of course, the last time Hennessey got its hands on a GT500 it boosted it to 1,204 hp, so there’s no telling what it might do with the next one.
