Austin Cindric Fined 50 Points And $50,000 For Spinning Ty Dillon At COTA

Austin Cindric finished the NASCAR Cup Series race at the Circuit Of The Americas [COTA] in 25th place and picked up 12 points, but he’s going to have to give them back … and then some.
Team Penske’s Cindric has been fined 50 points and $50,000 for intentionally turning Ty Dillon on the fourth lap of the race.
Dillon had run Cindric wide in Turn 20 entering the front straight and Cindric paid back the favor by right-hooking him and causing his Kaulig Racing car to spin.
NASCAR said that Cindric wasn’t given a suspension because of the venue on which the incident took place.

“The reasons are, you look at it, it is at a road course, lower speeds, tight confines to begin with and the result didn’t even draw a caution,” NASCAR racing communications officer Mike Forde said on the “Hauler Talk” podcast.

The points penalty dropped Cindric to 34th in the season standings with 30 points, while leader William Byron has 116. Chase Briscoe, who was penalized 100 points for a technical infraction in the Daytona 500 remains last at -28 points after his 14th-place finish at COTA.
Two members of Kyle Larson’s pit crew, the jackman and front tire changer, were suspended for two races due to Larson’s tire falling off at COTA following a pit stop.
