Tesla’s U.S. Sales Slumped To 43,650 In February — Worst Since 2022

Tesla sales are taking a tumble.

Tesla only officially reports sales quarterly and doesn’t break out U.S. deliveries, but Kelley Blue Book’s data found that just 43,650 of the brand’s vehicles were sold in the U.S. in February.

That was down from January and was the lowest since July 2022, during a period of auto industry supply chain shortages.

Tesla’s best U.S. month ever, according to Kelley Blue Book, was February 2023 when it sold 60,325 vehicles across its four-model lineup.

The Tesla Model Y was the sixth-best selling vehicle in the U.S. and the best selling vehicle in the world in 2024, but overall Tesla sales were down.

Its decline has accelerated in recent months as CEO Elon Musk has joined the Trump Administration as the head of its Department Of Government Efficiency. Protests around the globe, sometimes violent, have apparently started to have a significant effect on the brand’s sales and reputation with many car shoppers. Tesla is also in the process of launching an updated Model Y, which has had an effect on production and deliveries.

The company’s stock value skyrocketed after Trump’s election, but has since lost nearly all of its gains. On Monday, March 10, it dropped 15% for its worst day in five years, but started turning around the next day after Trump hosted Musk and a fleet of Teslas at The White House to show his support and said he was going to buy a Model S Plaid.
