See It: Greg Anderson Red-Lights To Win Crazy NHRA Arizona National Pro Stock Final With Dead Engine

Winning is winning.
The NHRA Pro Stock final at the Arizona Nationals wasn’t much of a race, but it was one that’ll be hard to forget.
KB Titan Racing Teammates Greg Anderson and Dallas Glenn were ready to face off against each other when Glenn popped the clutch early and was disqualified for jumping the start and red-lighting.
Anderson reacted to the Glenn’s light and red-lighted himself, only for his engine to die immediately as he left the line, but it was enough to claim the win.
“My car made it about a foot and it shut right off and now I‘m going to have to sit in front of the grandstands and want to sink underneath the seat, because I just red lighted, and you just threw the race away and I wondered why Dallas didn’t go by me? I reached up and I’m trying to restart the car, and it won’t start. Something went wrong. I don’t know if the ignition blew out on it or what happened, but I red-lighted and somehow Dallas did something worse than I did. So crazy final round, but, like they say, a win is a win,” defending Pro Stock champ Anderson told NHRA.com after the race.

Anderson won under the NHRA’s “first or worst” rule, which stipulates that the first driver to commit a foul loses unless the other driver commits a worse foul. Two red lights are equal, while crossing the center line would be considered a more serious infraction.

Green was coming off a win at the season-opening Gatornationals, but after two rounds Erica Enders now leads Anderson in the standings with Green in third as the series heads to the Winternationals in Pomona, Calif., the weekend of March 27-30.
