The first Battle of the Busches goes to dad!

Kyle Busch raced against his nine-year-old son Brexton for the first time on Wednesday night at Millbridge Speedway in North Carolina.

The Busches competed on the quarter-mile dirt oval in the Winged 600 Micro Sprints class, which features 160 hp cars.

“I wouldn’t say it’s surreal, we kind of knew this day was coming, I wouldn’t say it was necessarily always circled on the calendar, it just kind of popped up,” the 39-year-old Busch told DirtVision before the race about the matchup.

The elder Busch finished the 20-lap race in third, but was less than two seconds ahead of his impressive young son in sixth.

Brexton, who goes by BRex, is a regular on the dirt racing circuit, while two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle only took the discipline up last year.
