Dodge Charger Daytona Beating VW ID. Buzz In Retro-Electric Sales Race

And they’re off!
The electric Dodge Charger Daytona and Volkswagen ID. Buzz might not look like they have much in common, but there are a few key points that cosmically intertwine them.
First, their modern designs were both inspired by iconic classic vehicles and have both been received with much acclaim.
Critics have largely had positive views on how the two drive, as well. They’re quiet, comfortable and even though the ID. Buzz has about half the power of the Charger Daytona, they’re both pretty zippy.
Unfortunately, the quality and speed doesn’t come cheap. Both start around $60,000 with the ID. Buzz rising to $70,000 and the Charger Daytona to more than $75,000.

The ID. Buzz’s driving ranges are much smaller numbers at just 234 miles with rear-wheel-drive and 231 with all-wheel-drive, while the Charger Daytona stretches from a scant 216 miles to 308 miles, depending on the trim.
Many agree that the prices of both are a little on the high side for what they deliver and dealers seem to agree with that, because the incentives being offered on both vehicles have been plentiful, sometimes into the five-figure range.

As a result, Dodge reported 1,947 Charger Daytona deliveries in the first quarter of 2025 and the ID. Buzz was right behind it with 1,901. Not amazing, but given that they are still trickling into showrooms, perhaps better than expected. The other new Stellantis EV from Dodge’s sister brand Jeep has fared a bit better than both. The Wagoneer S racking up 2,595 sales in the quarter.
The supply chains for all of these should be about at full steam by now, so the second quarter should offer a clearer picture of how these models are faring in the marketplace.
