Rivian built 14,611 vehicles but only delivered 8,640, which was within is projections for the quarter. It pegged part of the decline on the Los Angeles area wildfires, which affected one of its top markets.

Rivian still expects to deliver between 46,000 and 51,000 vehicles this year, the high end of which would match its 2024 total. It is currently preparing to begin production of its new high volume R2 model, which is expected to be on sale in early 2026.

However, the sales releases came on the same day that President Trump confirmed new tariffs on imported automobiles, which were set at 25%. While Rivian and Lucid currently build all of the vehicles they sell in the U.S. domestically, additional tariffs on imported parts are scheduled to be added in May, and the outlook for the overall economy remains uclear.

Rivian’s next earnings call is April 22 and Lucid’s on May 6 and both may have updated outlooks by then.
