Cheaper New Tesla Model Y Debuts In USA

Launch sequence complete.
Tesla has introduced a new standard version of its updated Tesla Model Y, following the January release of the Launch Series version.
The Long Range All-Wheel Drive is priced at $50,630, compared to $59,990 for the Launch Series, which came with a higher level of standard equipment.
Among the features that are now options is Tesla’s $8,000 Full Self-Driving, which is a semi-autonomous system that can also be activated through a $99 monthly subscription.
The Long Range All-Wheel Drive is advertised with 327 miles of driving range per charge, a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 125 mph. The new Model Y is an evolution of the previous edition, but has new exterior styling, improved refinement and Tesla’s latest computer hardware and software. The free color is Stealth Gray, while others are priced from $1,000 to $2,000. The newly-introduced metallic Black Diamond lists for $1,500.

All U.S. market Teslas are all built domestically and not subject to the new 25% tariff on imported automobiles. Tesla’s website says that the Model Y is available immediately in some markets, but that orders can take up to four weeks to fulfill in certain parts of the country.
Tesla’s overall sales dropped 13% in the first quarter of 2025, but its not yet clear how much of that was attributable to production hiccups caused by the changeover to the new Model Y, which was the best selling vehicle in the world in 2024, rather than the global protests against CEO Elon Musk’s political activities. Sales of the Cybertruck, Tesla’s most controversial model, appear to have fallen dramatically this year.
Tesla says two new models are set to debut this year. One is a new entry-level model that is slated to slot into the lineup below the $44,130 Model 3 sedan and the other is the Cybercab that was revealed last year. The Cybercab is scheduled to be deployed in an autonomous ride-hailing service in Austin, Texas, this June, according to Tesla.
