The Best Accessories For The $27,500 Slate Pickup

The Slate pickup is meant to be a blank slate.
The subcompact electric truck will go on sale next year in just one configuration from the factory to keep production costs down.
The estimated price is expected to be less than $20,000 after the $7,500 federal tax credit is applied, so the MSRP will be around $27,500.
To get there, it only comes in gray, doesn’t have a radio and there are just two seats, but the company plans to offer dozens of accessories so owners can update their trucks.
We’ve picked a few favorites, but their prices have not yet been announced.
LONG RANGER

The Slate comes with a battery pack good for 150 miles of range, but there’s also an extended range pack rated for 240 miles that you can either get with the truck when you order it, or swap into later on.
FAST FASHION

Slate will sell SUV conversion kits that come with a roll bar, a rear bench seat and a roof that’s either square or a fastback, the latter making the Slate look a little like an old Range Rover.
ON THE BIG SCREEN

The Slate doesn’t have an infotainment system, but it comes with a smartphone holder on the dashboard. If you’d prefer to use a tablet with a larger screen, a mount for one will be offered.
PUSH THOSE BUTTONS

The base Slate only has three knobs for the climate control, but you can buy a rack of assignable buttons to operate the accessories you add.
BRING THE NOISE

A Bluetooth speaker holder that fits under the climate knobs is available, but there is also a soundbar that can be installed in the dashboard storage compartment.
WRAP IT UP

The Slate may only come in one color, but its plastic body panels have been designed to be wrapped easily and there will be dozens of hues and patterns to choose from that can be applied at home.
POWER UP … AND DOWN

The crank windows are cute, but Slate will gladly sell you a kit to power them.
