New Jeep Compass Revealed — But Where Will U.S. Version Be Built?

Jeep has taken the wraps off the all-new third generation Compass in Europe, but its route to the U.S. is uncertain.
The current Compass is built in Mexico and Jeep was planning to move production of the new one to Canada, but the 25% import tariff currently imposed on automobiles from both countries makes the prospect of assembly an entry-level model in either of them difficult.
Jeep hasn’t announced a change in plans or a firm date for the Compass be introduced in the U.S., but previously planned to kick off North American sales in calendar year 2026. European versions will be built in Italy with hybrid and all-electric powertrains.
BIGGER AND BOLDER

The new Compass is about a half-foot longer than the model it replaces and has more passenger and cargo space. Its styling is a boxier take on the model’s familiar look and, of course, retains Jeep’s iconic seven-slot grille.
