America’s favorite family car is getting a major makeover.

The Toyota Rav4 was the third-best selling model in the U.S. in 2024, behind only the Ford F-Series and Chevrolet Silverado, with 475,193 delivered to customers.

The compact SUV has been the most popular vehicle that’s not a pickup since it surpassed the Toyota Camry in 2019. That’s also the first model year that the current generation debuted, so a replacement is due.

Toyota didn’t name the vehicle featured in a press release titled “The Countdown to the Next Adventure Begins,” but aerial teaser images live little doubt that it is the new Rav4 that will be revealed on May. 20. Toyota said to “get ready to stand out in all-new style, from urban streets to outdoor retreats.” The current Rav4 is availble in a variety of trims that include the Woodland, which is outfitted for light off-road driving.

While Toyota’s U.S. media site only shows the vehicle from above, its U.K. website adds an interior shot of the dashboard with dual tablet-style displays and accommodations for a head-up display that teases “Toyota is set to unveil the latest advances in its line-up.”
