It’s a big number for a little truck!

Electric pickup startup Slate Auto confirmed in a LinkedIn post on Monday that it has received 100,000 reservations for its first model since it was unveiled on April 24. The reservations represents slots for orders once the books open up and require a fully-refundable $50 deposit.

“Thanks for helping us clock over 100k reservations (and counting) over the last couple weeks. It’s humbling, exciting, and we are now focused on our road to production,” the company said.

The two-door pickup is being promoted with a selling price of less than $20,000 after the $7,500 federal tax credit on electric vehicle purchases is factored in, so the MSRP will likely be around $27,500 if Slate can hit the target. It will be built at a repurposed printing plant in Warsaw, Ind., using parts mostly sourced from the U.S., so it may be able to avoid some of the effects of the new tariffs on imported automobile parts.

The two-seat truck comes with a 201 hp rear-wheel-drive powertrain and a 150-mile range at that price, but a 240-mile battery will be optional, as will a kit that turns it into a five-passenger SUV.

It comes with manual crank windows and doesn’t have a built-in infotainment system or even speakers, which are optional as part of a long list of accessories that customers can order at purchase or anytime after.
