The Mazda MX-5 Miata was built for the open road, while the GMC Hummer EV is all about off-roading, but neither sees much of their natural environment.

According to a new report from iSeeCars.com that looked at recent sales of more than one million three-year-old vehicles that were sold from November 2024 through April 2025, the Miata and Hummer were the least-driven vehicles.

Miata soft tops racked up an average of 5,073 miles annually and Hummers 5,205 miles. The retractable hardtop Miata RF didn’t see much more use at an average of 5.375 miles.

Next up were the the Mini Hardtop at 6,726 miles, the Mazda CX-30 EV (which has a range of 100 miles per charge) at 6,755 miles and the Mini Convertible at 6,929 miles.

On the other end of the list were three takes on the ultimate family car: a minivan. The Chrysler Pacifica was number one at 20,882 miles and followed by the budget version sold as the Chrysler Voyager at 19,948 miles and the Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid at 19,575.

The now-discontinued Chevrolet Malibu, which is a very common rental car, was fourth at 18,762 miles and the minivan-rivaling Chevrolet Suburban fifth at 18,317 miles.

The most-driven sports car was also a convertible like the Miata, but also a regular on the rental car lot. The Ford Mustang convertible finishing seventh overall at 17,660 miles per year. Ford’s electric F-150 Lightning, however, was the least-driven pickup after the Hummer at 7,877 miles.

“It’s telling that vehicles like the GMC Hummer EV, Mazda MX-30 EV, Ford F-150 Lightning, and [electric] Volkswagen ID.4 are among the least driven models,” iSeeCars.com executive analyst Karl Brauer said. “These are all utility vehicles that should be seeing a lot of use, but their electric drivetrains appear to limit their annual miles.”
