Chris Buescher Slammed With 60 Point Penalty And $75,000 Fine For Tech Violation At Kansas NASCAR Cup Series Race

Chris Buescher had a good day starting on the front row and finishing eighth in the NASCAR Cup Series race at Kansas Speedway on Sunday spoiled out by a technical infraction.
NASCAR announced on Thursday that Beuscher’s No. 17 RFK Racing Ford Mustang was in violation of sections 14.1.C (overall assembled vehicle rules) and 14.5.4.G (front bumper cover) of the NASCAR Rule Book for using more than the maximum reinforcement allowed for the front bumper cover.
Rules allow for some reinforcement between the cover and the foam liner to prevent damage, but NASCAR said Buescher’s car had too much, which could effect how the front of the car holds up to contact during a race. Buescher’s car was randomly selected along with Carson Hocevar’s for a post-race inspection.
Buescher and the team were docked 60 championship points and five playoff points while the team was fined $75,000. Buescher’s crew chief Scott Graves was also suspended for two races, which will. be the All-Star Race and the Coca-Cola 600.
