Ram 1500 Ramcharger Delayed Until 2026, Ram 1500 REV To 2027

Ram is pushing back is electrified truck plans as the market cools for battery-powered pickups.

The automaker has confirmed that the launch of the 1500 Ramcharger extended range electric hybrid pickup has been moved from this year to early 2026, while the all-electric 1500 REV won’t debut until the summer of 2027, Crain’s Detroit News reported.

The REV was originally slated to be on sale before the end of 2024, but Ram announced last December that it was moving the Ramcharger in front of it and that it wouldn’t arrive until 2026.

The Ramcharger is a series hybrid that is always driven by its electric motors, but has a V6 engine onboard that works as a generator on trips longer than the 145-mile battery pack’s range.

Its all-wheel-drive system is rated at 647 hp and 610 lb-ft and the truck can accelerate to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. Ram said its towing capacity will be 14,000 pounds.

Ram previously said that it had canceled plans for aa 500-mile Ram 1500 REV and that it would launch with 350 miles of range.

Ram said the new delays was due to a drop in demand for electric pickups and that it would also allow for further development of the series hybrid technology.

Ram is expected to reintroduce V8 engines into the 1500 lineup later this year after discontinuing them in 2025 in favor of turbocharged inline-six-cylinder engines The brand has already started teasing a big product announcement coming on June 8 with several more to follow through 2026.
