2026 Toyota Rav4 Revealed With All-Hybrid Lineup, New GR Sport Model

The Toyota Rav4 is following the Camry down the all-hybrid route. Toyota revealed the sixth generation 2026 Rav4 on Tuesday night with three hybrid powertrains across a wide range of trims, including the first GR Sport model.

The Rav4 was the world’s second-best selling vehicle last year and the third best seller in the U.S. behind the Ford F-Series and Chevrolet Silverado trucks. It even outsold the F-150 in a straight-up fight with 475,193 deliveries to the Ford’s 460,915.

SHARP LOOKING

The 2026 Rav4 is only slightly larger than the 2025 model and its styling is a new take on its chiseled looks with bulging fenders and blunt front ends across the lineup.

ELECTRIFIED

The powertrains on offer in include a front-wheel drive hybrid based around a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that’s rated at 226 hp, an all-wheel-drive hybrid that adds an electric motor for the rear axle and boosts power to 236 and a plug-in hybrid with a 320 hp all-wheel-drive system and 50 miles of all-electric driving range.

STREET SMART

The Core lineup of LE, XLE and Limited trims are the most mainstream models. The Limited tops the range with standard all-wheel-drive and SofTex synthetic leather upholstery.

TECH FORWARD

The interior features dual digital displays and an all-new infotainment system that operates at higher speeds. A row of climate control buttons and a volume knob are placed under the central touchscreen for easy access while driving.

OUTDOORSY

The rugged Woodland trim returns with the choice of the hybrid or plug-in hybrid powertrain. It gets all-terrain tires, which give it an extra half-inch of ground clearance; a split grille with Rigid LED auxiliary lights; roof rails with crossbars; a hitch receiver; and special interior trim.

PLAYING IT SAFE

Toyota’s Safety Sense package of electronic driver aids has been updated with the new software platform and will have improved capabilities, although Toyota hasn’t said exactly what they are yet. Blind spot monitoring, emergency braking, lane tracing and adaptive cruise control will be among the features included.

IT’S GR-EAT

The sporty SE and XSE trims are being joined by a new line-topping GR Sport that’s equipped with the 320 hp plug-in hybrid powertrain and rides on a chassis tuned by Toyota’s Gazoo Racing division that includes a 20-inch wheel and tire package and a wider track than the other trims. A large egg crate grille and aggressive rear wing are signature elements of the design.

Pricing and full details for the Rav4 will be released closer to when it goes on sale later this year, including where it will be built. The Rav4 is currently assembled in plants in the U.S., Canada and Japan.
