There’s no replacement for displacement. That’s something Ford confirmed in 1966 when it finally beat Ferrari in the 24 Hours of Le Mans on its third try.

The first two attemps were with GT40s powered by 4.7-liter V8s, but it swapped in a 7.0-liter in 1966 and the rest is history.

Newly-manufactured replicas of the GT40 are still sold today by several companies, including Superformance, and are often equipped with 5.0-liter or 7.0-liter V8 crate motors, but there’s one that goes even bigger than Ford ever did and it’s for sale.

Jo’s Garage of Pompano Beach, Fla., stuffed a 7.3-liter “Godzilla” V8 into a Superformance Mk I GT40 chassis and added dry-sump lubrication, eight-stack fuel injection, a Callies camshaft and a “bundle of snakes” exhaust to crank up its horsepower to 620 hp, the company told American Cars And Racing.

The car has a five-speed transaxle, Willwood brakes, Bilstein adjustable coilover shocks, 15-inch Halibrand-styl wheels and is painted in a classic Gulf-inspired blue and orange livery.

It’s listed with just 125 miles on the odometer and has power steering and a front-end lift to make it easier to use as a daily driver. The left-hand-drive cockpit features cloth upholstery and gauge faces painted in the Gulf colors. Performance specifications aren’t listed, but the actual GT40 racing car had about 485 hp and could reach a top speed of 201 mph.

The Superformance car is currently listed on the Bring A Trailer website in an online auction that runs until Tuesday, June 17 at 1:10 p.m. ET. The high bid at the time this story was published was $166,666.
