V8-Powered Ford F-150 Lobo Street Truck Debuts

The Maverick Lobo is no longer a lone wolf. Ford has followed up the street performance compact pickup that went on sale this year with a full-size F-150 Lobo in the same vein.
Lobo is the Spanish word for “wolf” and has been used on various F-150 models in Mexico since 1997.
The new U.S. version is technically a package for the 2025 F-150 STX trim in the SuperCrew body style. It comes standard with a 400 hp 5.0-liter V8, a dual exhaust and rides on a rear suspension that’s been lowered by two inches.
It has a 10-speed automatic transmission like all F-150s, but gets the premium 4×4 system that’s not usually offered on the STX, which has 4WD Hi, FWD Lo and full-time all-wheel drive settings.

Lower body cladding visually lowers the stance even more while the 22-inch gloss black six-spoke wheels are unique to the Lobo package, as are the Lobo fender badges and grille inserts. A vented cowl hood rounds out the exterior styling updates. Interior touches include patterned cloth upholstery.

The tires are all season Bridgestone Potenzas, so not exactly high performance rubber, and the F-150 Lobo is equipped with a 3.73 electronic locking rear axle. Its towing capacity is 7,900 pounds and its payload rating 1,450 pounds.

The Lobo package is priced at $4,695 and the lowest price for a truck with it is $59,995. Ford expects that many buyers will further modify their trucks.

The Ford Performance catalog has plenty of parts to do that with, including a $9,850 supercharger kit that cranks up the 5.0-liter V8 to 700 hp and 590 lb-ft.

Unfortunately for midsize pickup fans, Ford has only filed trademarks in the U.S. for the Maverick Lobo and F-150 Lobo names, so far, so it doesn’t look like a Ranger Lobo will be joining them soon.
