The 2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X Is America’s 1,250 HP Hybrid Hypercar

X marks the spot … for speed. Chevrolet has unveiled the 2026 Corvette ZR1X, a new high-powered hybrid version of the all-American sports car.

The Corvette ZR1X pairs the mid-mounted 1,064 hp turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 from the Corvette ZR1 with a front electric motor derived from the Corvette E-Ray’s to create an all-wheel-drive super-Vette.

The electric motor’s power has been increased from the Corvette E-Ray’s 160 hp to 186 hp to give the Corvette ZR1X a combined 1,250 hp.

Chevrolet says it can accelerate to 60 mph in less than two seconds and cover a quarter-mile in less than nine seconds. That’s quicker than the Corvette ZR1’s figures of 2.3 seconds and 9.6 seconds thanks to the all-wheel-drive traction and electric motor’s immediate torque delivery.

The Corvette ZR1X could potentially rival the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170’s acceleration, which was certified at 1.66 seconds for the 0-60 mph sprint and 8.91 seconds with the quarter-mile to make it the quickest American car ever, but with caveats.

The times were achieved with the car running on E85 fuel, which boosts its horsepower from 900 hp to 1,025 hp on a prepped drag strip. It also used the “one-foot rollout” timing method, which results in shorter times than doing it from a standing start, which is how Chevrolet typically conducts its advertised acceleration times.

The Corvette ZR1X isn’t really about drag racing. It’s designed with the same handling prowess as the Corvette ZR1 and will be offered with the ZTK Performance Package that stiffens the suspension tuning and adds wing and other aerodynamic devices that can generate up to 1,200 pounds of downforce at top speed.

As for what that top speed is, Chevrolet hasn’t said if it will equal the Corvette ZR1’s 233 mph, but the Corvette ZR1X does come standard with the Corvette ZR1’s optional upgraded J59 braking package, so bringing it to a stop from any velocity shouldn’t be too difficult.

Corvette ZR1X production is set to begin late this year, but its price hasn’t been announced. The Corvette ZR1 starts at $175,915 and, based on the Corvette E-Ray’s premium over the Corvette Stingray, so we’ll venture a guess that the Corvette ZR1X will cost about $205,000.
