Sometimes the owner just has to roll up their sleeves and get the job done themselves.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. will be filling in as crew chief for Connor Zilisch’s car during the Xfinity Series Race at Pocono Raceway on Saturday, June 21.

Zilisch’s regular JR Motorsports crew chief Mardy Lindley was suspended for one race and fined $10,000 after the car had two loose lug nuts at Nashville.

Lindley was allowed to work at the Mexico City race, as it was new to the schedule, but is sitting things out in Pennsylvania.

This will mark the first time Earnhardt has been a crew chief in any NASCAR series. He has plenty of experience at The Tricky Triangle to share with his driver, having won twice on the 2.5-mile track in the Cup Series.

Zilisch has one win this season at the Circuit of The Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas, and is coming off of a fifth-place finish in the inaugural Xfinity Series race in Mexico City.

“Pressure is on. New face on the pit box this weekend,” Zilisch humorously posted to X.

The 18-year-old rookie is currently fifth in the season standings and haas four top five finishes plus a ticket to the playoffs thanks to the COTA win.

Zilisch’s teammate, defending Xfinity Series champion Justin Allgaier is on top of the standings with three wins and 10 top five results.
