Better late than never? Cadillac has delivered the first Celestiq to a paying customer for the first time.

The automaker posted a single image of the vehicle, which is hand built at its Warren Technical Center in Michigan.

That’s also where the Cadillac House at Vanderbilt facility is, which is where buyers of the electric vehicle come to specify each one uniquely and where the owner took delivery of the first car, which is painted a metallic brown color.

The Celestiq has a starting price of $340,000, but each one is technically unique and Cadillac says it can accommodate just about any request for the exterior and the interior trim, so prices will very much vary.

The four-door with a liftback is powered by a 655 hp all-wheel-drive system and has an EPA rating of 303 miles per charge along with an efficiency rating equivalent to 81 mpg.

It can accelerate to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds and is equipped with an active anti-roll bar system that allows the suspension to keep the body virtually flat as it goes around curves while it also soaks up bumps.

The Celestiq was initially scheduled to enter production in late 2023, but development delays and the bespoke manufacturing process pushed that into this year. In May, Cadillac told Motor1 that it only expects to build 25 Celestiqs this year and that not all of them had been sold as of that time.

The manufacturing facility has the capability to build around 500 per year, if necessary, but Cadillac is not looking to expand beyond that, even if it could.

No future versions have been confirmed, but last year Cadillac did reveal a two-door convertible concept called the Sollei that it said could potentially be offered in the future if there were enough demand for it.
