Cowboy hat? Check. SUV? Check.

Valtteri Bottas to the American Cadillac Formula 1 Team? Seems like it might check out.

Finnish veteran Formula One driver Valterri Bottas may have just hinted that he will be one of the Cadillac F1 drivers in 2026.

Bottas posted a video showing him wearing a cowboy hat while someone shows him a Cadillac Escalade SUV.

“That’s a nice seat,” the off-camera voice says after opening the front door.

“That’s actually a nice seat, I wouldn’t mind,” Bottas replies while caressing the leather upholstery.

“And there are two seats,” the voice says.

“And they are both free? Bottas asks.

“Oh yea, wanna sit in it?” the voice.

“Not yet.,” Bottas replies as the video ends.

Bottas has competed in 246 F1 races and has 10 career wins. He has been considered a favorite for one of the seats thanks to the experience he would bring to the new team that is launching in 2026.

Bottas left Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber at the end of 2024 and is serving as a reserve driver for the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team and also test driver for the Mercedes-powered McLaren F1 Team this season.

His continued work in F1 has kept him in the running for one of the seats, for which former Red Bull F1 driver Sergio Perez is also under consideration, according to reports.

Cadillac has not made any formal announcements, however, and Bottas may just be having fun with his fans, although Mercedes-Benz might not be too pleased about him featuring a Cadillac on his social media.

The Cadillac Formula 1 Team is working toward becoming an all-American effort by designing its own chassis and powertrain. However, its first power unit will not be ready until the 2029 season and it will be a Ferrari customer until then.
