These Are The 5 Most American-Made Pickup Trucks

The pickup is the most iconic American automobile, but which ones are the most American-Made?

Cars.com’s annual American-Made Index ranks U.S.-assembled vehicles by the amount of local content and affect they have on the local economy.

It’s not a perfect system, especially as labelling rules count Canadian-made parts as domestic — but it does offer a good idea as to which models are more American-Made than others.

Tesla swept the top of the 2025 list with its four car and SUV models. The Cybertruck was excluded because it is considered a heavy duty truck and the survey is focused on light duty models.

But what pickups did make the list? Here’s a look at the top five:

1. JEEP GLADIATOR

The Jeep Gladiator is built and the brand’s spiritual home in Toledo, Ohio, alongside the Wrangler on which it is based. It’s on the large side for what is technically a midsize model. It comes in a variety of trims, but only with a 285 hp 3.6-liter V6 and four-wheel-drive, although several types of 4×4 systems are available. The Gladiator is also the only pickup currently on sale that has removable roof panels and its doors can also be taken off.

2. HONDA RIDGELINE

The Honda Ridgeline is the most unusual midsize truck, as it based on a unibody chassis shared in part with the Odyssey minivan. Both are built in Lincoln, Ala., and also share a 280 hp 3.5-liter V6 engine. The Ridgeline is now only offered with all-wheel-drive, but is more of a street-focused pickup than the Gladiator.

The Chevrolet Colorado is built in Wayne, Mich., and is the bestselling midsize pickup made by an American brand. (Top honors belong to the Toyota Tacoma, which is imported from Mexico.) It comes standard with a TurboMax 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 310 hp and 430 lb-ft and is offered in a variety of trims, including the ZR2 Bison extreme off-road model.

The electric Ford F-150 Lightning is build at Ford’s legendary River Rouge Complex in Dearborn, Mich., with the standard F-150, but ranks higher than the internal combustion engine models based largely on its parts sourcing. After losing the sales race to the Cybertruck in 2024, the F-150 Lightning was ahead through the first five months of this year.

The Hyundai Santa Cruz is another Alabama-built unibody truck like the Honda Ridgeline, but it slots into the compact category, where it competes with the Mexican-made Ford Maverick. The base model has front-wheel-drive and a 191 hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, but trims are available with all-wheel-drive and a 281 hp turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder.
