Corey Heim Leads Almost Every Lap To Win The NASCAR Truck Series Lime Rock Park Debut

The NASCAR Truck Series’ inaugural event at Lime Rock Park was a huge success … for Corey Heim.
The Tricon Garage driver started from pole and led all but one lap in the LiUNA 150 on Saturday in front of a packed hous… uh, park.
The event marks the first time a NASCAR national series visited the iconic Connecticut track, which is best-known for sports car racing.
Heim started alongside first-time Truck Series driver Jordan Taylor, who won the 2021 IMSA race at Lime Rock, but quickly pulled ahead of the road course ace and pulled away.

Third-place starter Layne Riggs also passed Taylor, and would spend most of the race in the second spot.
Despite the new track, which also served as the first road course of the season, there were no caution periods during the first two stages and the first major incident didn’t happen until Matt Mills went off at Turn One and brought out the yellow.

Heim was in first for the restart, but Riggs nosed ahead and was credited with leading lap 96 before he went too hard into Turn One, locked the brakes and went off the track, ceding the victory to Heim. Riggs would ultimately finish in 13th.
Heim also set the fastest lap of the race to sweep the weekend and pick up a bonus point. It was his fifth win of the season and third-straight road course win, which is an all-time Truck Series record.

“Yeah, that was nothing short of incredible,” Heim said during his post-race interview on FS1. “These road courses — I really look forward to them, pre-event and whatnot, and I really prepare for them, so to see all that pay off with (sponsor) Safelite, Tricon, Toyota, it’s super special.
Heim remains first in the season standings ahead of Chandler Smith and Riggs with three races to go before the playoffs.
Next up is the TSport 200 at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Motorsports Park on July 25.
