The American Cars And Racing US-Built Car Of The Year Awards™ is our July 4th tradition that honors the best new cars, trucks and SUVs that are made in the USA.

It’s become a hot topic since we originally launched it, with the recent shifts in U.S. public policy around automobile manufacturing, but it was never meant to be political. We just wanted to celebrate the great vehicles being built in the dozens of factories across the USA but the American workforce. These days, they make it all, from economy cars to ultra-luxury models and sports cars that compete and often beat the world’s best.

The decisions are based primarily on our in-house testing and analysis of the latest models, but we also consider what customers and a roster of trusted journalists have to say about the vehicles. This year’s categories include Car, Truck, SUV, Luxury Vehicle and Sports Vehicle.

All new and significantly updated models that debuted for the 2025 model year and are assembled in the USA were eligible, regardless of where the company that makes them is based. If it was available to customers by June 1, it made the list. We consider each vehicle holistically, based on what it brings to the table compared to its peers, but our picks are ultimately the ones that simply made us sit up and say, “yea, that’s the stuff. They nailed it.”
