2025 US-Built Truck Of The Year™: Ram 1500 RHO

The Ram 1500 was updated for 2025 with new styling, features and one very big change: no V8 engines.
Ram replaced the naturally aspirated V8s with turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six-cylinders that delivered more power and better fuel efficiency. It also swapped the high performance Ram 1500 TRX’s 702 hp supercharged V8 for a 540 hp straight-six to create the Michigan-made Ram 1500 RHO that is our US-Built Truck Of The YearTM.
The $71,990 RHO kept the TRX’s widebody stance and long-travel suspension, which allows it to fly across the desert, both on the ground and over it. It’s a different experience with the turbo motor, but no less fun. It may be missing the sounds of a supercharged V8, but you can still drive it furiously.
Or not. The RHO is great for cruising on the highway and can be ordered with all creature comforts that are availble in the Ram 1500 lineup, including massaging front seats and a video-capable touchscreen infotainment system for the front passenger. Drive it like it was meant to be driven and they won’t need any digital distractions, but a massage might be nice at the end of a long day off-road.

Nevertheless, some people just gotta have a V8 and Ram has decided to bring one back in 2026 for most of the 1500 models, but not the RHO. At least not yet.
