The Lucid Air Grand Touring just finished a very grand tour. The electric sedan completed a 749-mile (1,205-kilomoeter) trip across the alps on a single charge to claim a Guinness distance record for EVs.

The $110,990 Air Grand Touring has an official EPA-rated range of 512 miles per charge. The record run was from St. Moritz, Switzerland, to Munich, Germany. Lucid beat a 649-mile record that had just been set in June by a Mercedes-Benz EQS 450+.

“This range record represents a significant milestone – it’s yet another clear demonstration of the technological edge that defines Lucid,” Eric Bach, Senior Vice President of Product and Chief Engineer at Lucid said in a news release.

“Our Lucid products combine world class vehicle efficiency with the most advanced drive units, ultra-high voltage architecture, and battery management technology available today, which lets a Lucid travel further with less energy than any other vehicles.”

The Arizona-built Air Grand Touring has a fuel efficiency rating equivalent to 132 mpg. The entry level Air Pure RWD is the most efficient vehicle on sale today at 146 mpg, but it has a smaller battery pack that is only good for an official 420 miles of range.

Lucid recently launched the new Gravity SUV and reported total global deliveries of 6,418 vehicles through June, which included 3,309 in the second quarter, a figure that was up 38% from 2024 but short of Wall Street estimates.

Lucid in February said it expected to deliver 20,000 vehicles this year, but changes in public policy regarding tariffs on automobile parts and the coming discontinuation of the $7,500 federal tax credit on electric vehicle purchases may affect that number. Lucid also assembles vehicles in Saudi Arabia for the local market, but with parts sourced from its U.S. operations.

The company has its next earnings call scheduled for August 5 and should offer an update on its outlook then.
