The early Ford Mustangs were meant to compete with the stylish European sports cars of the day, but there are two that are actually a little European.

Custom coachbuilder Zagato customized two 1967 Mustangs with an Italian take on the pony car’s looks and one of them is for sale.

The Ford Mustang GT Zagato Elaborazione listed on Bring a Trailer features a redesigned front end with a slimmer grille and a hood that dipped down in the middle to meet it.

Zagato added a hood scoop and swapped the round headlights for rectangular ones. The bumper was also lowered a few inches and had turning signal lights installed on top of it.

The interior is mostly stock, but features seats reupholstered in two-tone black and white leather. The car is powered by a 289-cubic-inch V8 and has a four-speed manual transmission, while the other example was based on a Mustang Shelby GT350.

The 1967 Ford Mustang had a taller grille and round headlights.

The car is currently in Chieta, Italy, and the online auction is scheduled to end on July 17. It’s not the only time an Italian designer gave a Mustang the once-over, however.

In 2006, Ford collaborated with Giugiario on a show car based on the S179 Mustang that had debuted the year before. It also had a narrow grilled and lower hood, but also more dramatically sculpted fenders and a shortened rear end.

Scissor doors added a dramatic effect, but the car was never put into production or offered for sale.
