See It: Brittany Force Breaks Her Own NHRA Speed Record With 341.85 MPH Run

She’s a force to be reckoned with.
Brittany Force set a new NHRA top speed record on Sunday at the Northwest Nationals at Pacific Raceways in Washington to break the mark she set in April at the Four-Wide Nationals in Charlotte.
The John Force Racing driver laid down a 3.659 second pass at 341.85 mph to beat Doug Kalitta in the Top Fuel semifinals.
That was just a tick quicker than the 341.59 mph speed she hit at Charlotte. Force had previously set a new Pacific Raceways record on Friday night with a 340.47 mph run during the preliminary rounds.
Force went on to face Shawn Langdon in the finals, but an oil pressure issue shut her engine down and she came up short of the win.

“Obviously, the highlight of our weekend was in the semifinals when we made a killer run and went even faster than our national record,” Force said. “It’s really exciting for this whole team. We work really hard to turn on win lights and put the best numbers up on the board, and we’re hoping that record will hold for a while.”

Langdon also beat Tony Stewart in the second elimination round and jumped in front of him in the season standings with a 12-point lead. Matt Hagan and Dallas Glenn were the winners in the Funny Car and Pro Stock categories.
The series heads to Sonoma Raceway for the next round on the weekend of July 250-27.
