Fox Corporation is taking a one-third stake in Penske Entertainment, which owns both IndyCar and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Fox became IndyCar’s broadcast partner this year and airs every race on the national network. The original three-year broadcast agreement was extended for several years as part of the investment, which The Wall Street Journal reported is in the $125 million to $135 million range.

“This partnership is built on long-standing trust and a shared vision for the future,” Penske Entertainment owner Roger Penske said in a news release.

“Fox sees the incredible potential across our sport and wants to play an active role in building our growth trajectory. Lachlan Murdoch and his team, starting with Eric Shanks [CEO & Executive Producer, FOX Sports], are committed to our success and will bring incredible energy and innovation to IndyCar.”

The Indy 500 drew about 300,000 fans to the event and a TV audience of 7.01 million, while most of the races are less than one million. The two sides did not discuss any imminent changes to the series or the broadcast.

There are three races left in the 2025 season and full 2026 schedule has not yet been released. IndyCar has confirmed that it is adding a new street race in Arlington, Texas and will not be returning to The Thermal Club.

IndyCar is off this week, but returns for the Grand Prix of Portland on August 10, which is followed by the Milwaukee Mile 250 on August 24 and the season finale at the Nashville Superspeedway on August 31.

Alex Palou holds a commanding lead in the season standings over Pato O’ward, who is the only driver left with a chance to beat him for the championship. However, Palou can clinch the title at any of the remaining races, depending on how the two of them perform.
