The Cadillac Elevated Velocity Is A Vibrating Luxury Electric Sand Crawler That Cleans Itself

Cadillac is taking its brand of luxury where it’s never gone before … of road.
The automaker is debuting a new electric SUV concept at The Quail during Monterey Car Week that might preview an upcoming rugged SUV. The Elevated Velocity is a sleek 2+2 designed for performance on and off the pavement.
The gullwing door vehicle is envisioned with autonomy in mind and has a retractable steering wheel and pedals, but was very much designed to be a driver’s car.
Cadillac didn’t say how much power it has, but referenced the electric Lyriq-V that’s on sale now with a 615 hp and 650 lb-ft all-wheel-drive system that makes it the quickest Cadillac ever.

The Elevated Velocity has an e-Velocity driving mode that lowers the air suspension and gets it ready for the street or track, while a Terra mode jacks it up for off-roading.

It’s also equipped with a Sand Vision system that Cadillac says is like Night Vision, but for sandstorms. The technology that makes it work hasn’t been detailed, but it is clearly targeted at customers in the Gulf region where the weather phenomenon is a common occurrence.

The vehicle has another way of dealing with sand through an Elements Defy feature “that keeps the exterior of Elevated Velocity clean of external elements and debris such as dust, sand, and dirt via a dust-phobic vibration.”

There’s also a cabin air filter optimized for dust particles; an Extreme Climatization system that “compensates for dry air, sudden and extreme temperature shifts, and altitude changes;” a fragrance system and red light therapy to help with recovery.

A slim seating design helps make the interior roomier and there are digital displays integrated into the top of the dashboard and steering wheel hub. Trim materials include Nappa leather, boucle fabric and acrylic. The sloping roofline doesn’t leave a lot of cargo space, which is filled with a custom-fitted polo space on the concept.

The Elevated Velocity isn’t destined for production as-is, but Cadillac says it “could serve as inspiration for potential future Cadillac production vehicles.”
