2026 Shelby Super Snake-R Ford Mustang Revealed At $224,995

This pony car is more like a clydesdale.
Shelby American has revealed the 2026 Super Snake-R, a street legal Ford Mustang modified for the track.
The Las Vegas-based outfit starts with a Mustang Dark Horse, swaps on a set of steel widebody rear fenders, carbon fiber front fenders, a huge wing with a new diffuser below it, an aggressive front splitter and a bulging vented hood.
Under it, Shelby straps a 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger onto to the 5.0-liter V8 to crank up the power from the stock 500 hp to 850 hp.

It gets sent to the 13-inch-wide rear magnesium wheels through either a short-throw six-speed manual with a one-piece drive shaft or a 10-speed automatic transmission, both cranking performance half shafts. A performance radiator helps keep the motor cool as it breathes through a cat-back active valve exhaust.

It’s not just about the power, however. The suspension has been updated with fully-adjustable coil-over shock absorbers, stiffer front and rear sway bars, caster camber plates and a harness strut bar connecting the rear shock towers. Shelby also strips out the rear seats, adds a roll cage, reupholsters the front buckets and adds a serialized plaque to the dashboard.

The final product weighs 4,004 pounds, which is just 116 more than the Ford Mustang Dark Horse, and is meant to be driven on road courses, not just drag strips. Shelby’s work is covered by a three-year/36,000-mile warranty while the powertrain maintains the factory Ford warranty.

“The 2026 Shelby Super Snake-R was optimized at every level using the best components available to create a dominating track star,” Shelby American president Gary Patterson said in a news releaase.
“We’re unlocking the reliable 5.0 liter Coyote’s great potential by supercharging it, making well over 850 horsepower in a vehicle effortlessly maintained at any Ford dealership. Serious enthusiasts can drive a powerful sports car that is easy to keep in peak running condition.”
Prices start at $224,995, which includes the factory Mustang Dark Horse that is needed for the build, but painted stripe and graphics options are available.
