The Corvette CX Is A 2,000 HP Supercar That Anyone With A Playstation Can Drive
After revealing concepts for future Corvettes created by its U.K. and California design studios earlier this year, Chevy is showing off what the home team can do.
The Corvette CX and Corvette CX.R Vision Gran Turismo concepts revealed during Monterey Car Week were designed and built at the Chevrolet Performance Studio in Warren, Mich.
The Corvette CX was built for the street and the Corvette CX.R for racing. They each feature two-seat cabins entered through canopy-style doors and have 2,000 hp, but get it in different ways.
The Corvette CX was envisioned with a four-motor electric drivetrain rated at 2,000 hp. It features an active aerodynamic system that includes a large deployable wing.

The roof is just 41 inches heigh, which is seven inches lower than the current production Corvette’s. The seats have a wraparound design that is integrated into the vehicle’s sides and center console and the entire windscreen is an augmented reality display.
The Corvette CX.R swaps one of its electric motors for a 900 hp turbocharged 2.0-liter V8, but the entire system still puts out a combined 2,000 hp. The engine runs on renewable e-fuel and drives the rear wheels through an eight-speed transmission with an integrated electric motor, while the two others power the front wheels.
Its aerodynamic package is more aggressive than the CX’s and, as the Vision Grand Turismo part of its name implies, you’ll be able to compare them in the Gran Turismo 7 game on Sony’s Playstation, where they will soon be available as DLCs.

Chevrolet has updated the Corvette for 2026, so it will be a few years before there’s an all new one, but it could draw some inspiration from the concepts. Unless the designers come up with even wilder ideas. And designers don’t usually run out of wild ideas.
