The 2026 Ford Maverick Is Cheaper Because This Model Came Back From The Dead
The 2026 Ford Maverick order book opened today and there’s a surprise in it for budget pickup shoppers.
Ford has resurrected the front-wheel-drive XL Maverick with the EcoBoost 250 hp turbocharged four-cylinder option as the new entry level model for $28,840. Ford had removed it from the lineup for 2025.
That’s $1,000 less than the 38 mpg front-wheel-drive XL Hybrid and all-wheel-drive XL EcoBoost, which remain at $29,840. A 37 mpg all-wheel-drive XL Hybrid is $32,060.
The EcoBoost with front-wheel-drive is also available in the XLT trim for $31,340, with the front-wheel-drive XLT Hybrid and all-wheel-drive XLT EcoBoost listing for $32,340 and the all-wheel-drive XLT Hybrid at $34,560.

The premium Lariat trim is only offered with all-wheel-drive at $37,565 for the EcoBoost and $39,785 for the Hybrid. The performance Maverick Lobo still starts at $37,625, but the off-road Tremor is $250 less than the 2025 model at $42,340.
Ford said it is increasing production of the popular XL, Lariat and various all-wheel-drive Hybrid Mavericks, which have been in short supply. The Maverick received a substantial update for 2025, so there aren’t any significant mechanical or feature changes for 2026, aside from the front-wheel-drive EcoBoost’s return.

Orange Fury Metallic Tri-Coat and Marsh Gray have been added to the color selections, however, and a few other options have been shuffled around, including making a spare tire a standalone option and the power sliding rear window optional on several trims.
