Who Has The Most NASCAR Southern 500 Wins? Only 2 Active Drivers Have More Than 1

The NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs kicks off this year on Aug. 31 at Darlington Raceway, where 16 drivers will be looking for a win to lock themselves into the second round of the post-season.
BetMGM currently has Kyle Larson as the favorite at +500 odds, followed by Tyler Reddick at +500 with Denny Hamlin, Ryan Blaney and William Byron tied at +600.
All of them are playoffs drivers, but only one has won the Southern 500 more than once. In fact, there are only two active drivers with multiple wins.
Here’s a look at all of the drivers who have taken home at least two checkered flags from the crown jewell event during their careers:
2 WINS

Two of Erik Jone’s three career wins came at the Southern 500 in 2019 and 2022. Fireball Roberts, Harry Gant, Terry Labonte, Mark Martin, Gregg Biffle, Jimmie Johnson and Kevin Harvick also have two at the track.
3 WINS

Denny Hamlin has three Southern 500 wins, the last coming in 2021. That puts him on a list with Herb Thomas, Buck Baker, David Pearson, Dale Earnhardt and Bill Elliott.
4 WINS

Bobby Allison is the only driver with four Southern 500 trophies, including back to back wins in 1971 and 1972, plus 1975 and 1983.
5 WINS

Cale Yarborough is the one who won between Allison in 1973 and 1974, along with 1968, 1978 and 1982, making him the only five-timer.

6 WINS

Jeff Gordon stands on top of the heap with six wins including an incredible four-race streak from 1995-1998 that he followed-up with wins in 2002 and 2007. Gordon has seven wins overall at the track, which puts him third on the all-time list behind Dale Earnhardt’s nine and David Pearson’s 10.
