New Tesla Model Y Performance Revealed … In Europe

Months after the updated Model Y’s release this past winter, Tesla has introduced a new Performance version of the electric SUV, but only in Europe for now.
The Model Y Performance features a more powerful 454 hp all-wheel-drive system that’s good for a 0-60 mph sprint in 3.3 seconds and a restricted 155 mph top speed.
The suspension is equipped with computer-controlled adaptive shocks and the body is subtly redesigned with new front and rear fascias and a carbon fiber spoiler that Tesla says both improves aerodynamic downforce and reduces drag.
The Model Y Performance gets “high density” batteries that provide it with 360 miles of range on the European rating system, which is just four miles less than the less powerful Long Range AWD model.

Tesla doesn’t say what the capacity of the battery pack is, but the U.S. Long Range AWD is rated at 327 miles per charge. A 15-minute charge at a Tesla Supercharger is good for 151 miles-worth of electricity on the European scale.

The Model Y Performance also receive a few interior upgrades including heated and ventilated front seats, power-reclining heated rear seats and a 16-inch touchscreen, which is an inch larger and has a higher definition than the ones in the other Model Ys.

Pricing starts at £61,990 in the U.K, which is around $84,000, but includes all taxes and fees. That’s £10,000 more than the Long Range AWD.

Tesla hasn’t said when or if the Model Y Performance will go on sale stateside., but the new Model Y was launched in Europe just a few weeks ahead of the U.S. version.
Tesla is also working on a new entry-level version of the Model Y that is expected to be its lowest-priced model in the U.S. and should be on sale soon, but a date for its debut has not been confirmed.
