IndyCar’s Toronto Race Is Moving To Markham — Where’s That?

IndyCar will be starting a break from Toronto next season when the series moves its annual race a half hour north to Markham. Markham is a quickly growing city just outside of Toronto in the York Region municipality.
The Ontario Honda Dealers Indy event has been a fixture in Toronto since 1986, but the move was necessitated by Toronto hosting FIFA World Cup matches next summer.
The new agreement is a multi-year deal that will see the race held in the eastern precinct of the city for several seasons, with the first race scheduled for the weekend of Aug. 14-16.
The street circuit will feature a 12-turn, 2.19-mile layout with a double sided pit lane like the one used for The Detroit Grand Prix.

“We could not be more pleased to see the rich history of NTT IndyCar Series racing continue in Ontario,” Mark Miles, CEO of IndyCar owner Penske Entertainment, said.
