Shaquille O’Neal Bought A Stretched Chevy Corvette Z06 So He Could Fit

Shaquille O’Neal once starred in a Buick LaCrosse commercial to show of how roomy the full-size sedan is, but he doesn’t have so much luck with every car.
The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 can easily fit a 6-foot-1 driver, but 7-foot-1 is a bit much. So, when Shaq wanted one, he had to get it custom tailored for him.
He sent it to Effortless Motors in Riverside, Calif., who put it through a months-long process that involved stretching it 20 inches.
The Corvette’s mid-engine design simplified the work, since the Corvette doesn’t have a driveshaft down the middle, but was still a complex process.

The longer doors that were crafted needed new windows, which happened to crack on the day the car was delivered.

Shaq took it out for a spin, anyway. He looked a little snug in the video the company posted, but did fit and appeared to be enjoying himself.

The car’s profile definitely looks different, but is otherwise mostly stock, including its 670 hp 5.5-liter V8. Superman-shield wheel center caps and floor mats with the Shaq dunking logo are additional nods to the owner.

It’s possible that Shaq won’t have so much of an issue the next time he wants to buy a Corvette, because there are rumors that Chevy is planning to launch a sedan or SUV using the name.
Nothing’s been confirmed yet, but with the 233 mph Corvette ZR1 now on sale and 1,250 hp Corvette ZR1X coming later this year, Chevy is running out of ways to go big with the Corvette brand.
