The Chevrolet Camaro went out of production in 2023, but there’s a way to revive yours in a big way. Hennessey has brought back a custom Camaro option it first revealed in 2019.

The Resurrection is a 1,200 hp version of the Camaro ZL1 that has a claimed top speed of 220 mph.

Hennessey swaps the stock 6.2-liter motor for a supercharged 6.8-liter V8 with ported heads, new lifters and pushrods and Hennessey-designed camshaft.

Running on E85, it sends 1033 hp and 926 lb-ft to the rear wheels, which Hennessey estimates as 1,200 hp and 1,000 lb-ft at the crank. With a tank of 93 octane premium gas, it will still whip up 916 hp and 838 lb-ft at the wheels.

The rear-wheel-drive Resurrection will run a 0-60 mph sprint in about 2.3 seconds and do a quarter-mile in the nines.

Since the Camaro has been discontinued, Hennessey is now offering Resurrections through its Hennessey Special Operations (HSO) program, which is focused on bespoke builds in very limited numbers, less than 20 across the lineup each year.

A recent project was a Dodge Challenger Demon 170 that got a new 1,700 hp twin-turbocharged V8, although the original Supercharged engine was crated and preserved for the owner if they ever wanted to restore it to its original condition.

Exact pricing for the Resurrection and other HSO builds is on a case-by-case basis, but the original list for a Resurrection was $200,000.

Chevrolet has no plans to resurrect the Camaro itself and has been focused on developing its own ridiculously powerful Corvettes. The latest is the 1,250 Corvette ZR1X hybrid which has an estimated top speed of 233 mph. It holds the record for the fastest lap of the Nürburgring by an American production car and will list for $207,395 when sales begin later this year.
