Tesla Just Killed The Cheapest Cybertruck, But Didn’t Say Why

The entry-level Rear-Wheel Drive Tesla Cybertruck that was launched in April has been discontinued.
Tesla has removed the $72,235 model from its ordering website without explanation. The lowest-priced version is now once again the All-Wheel Drive at $82,235. Both prices include destination and ordering fees.
The Rear-Wheel Drive Cybertruck had an estimated driving range of 350 miles, which was the longest of all trims, but did without several features, including the air suspension that is standard on other models, to help bring the price down.
It also came with cloth instead of synthetic leather upholstery and did without a power tonneau cover, rear seat entertainment system screen and several other features.

When the Cybertruck first wen ton sale in 2023, Tesla was taking orders for a Rear-Wheel Drive Cybertruck advertised with 250 miles of range and a starting price of $60,990, not including fees, but it was later removed from the list and never went into production.

Tesla has not announced how many Rear-Wheel Drive Cybertrucks have been sold, but continues to offer the Alll-Wheel Drive and top of the line tri-motor Cyberbeast, which is now offered only in a high content version for $117,235, which includes the Full Self-Driving system and free use of Tesla’s Supercharging network.

The base All-Wheel Drive Cybertrucks still qualifies for the $7,500 federal tax credit on electric vehicle purchases, but the program ends after Sept. 30.
Tesla does have a new low-cost model in the works that it says will be on sale this year. The new SUV is based on the Model Y and will be its cheapest offering, although it hasn’t yet announced the price.
The most affordable Tesla currently on sale is the Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive Model 3, which starts at $44,130.
