Cadillac’s Formula 1 Car Will Be Fueled By Jim Beam Bourbon’s Bucks

Cadillac is assembling a team. A very American team.
The U.S.-based Cadillac Formula 1 Team is starting to bring sponsors on board who are ready to wave the flag with it.
The first announced was Tommy Hilfiger, who’s joined as the team’s official apparel sponsor. It was a pretty big get for Cadillac as the company was previously associated with the Mercedes-AMG team.
“We share a vision to honor the heritage of F1 while pushing it forward — celebrating where we come from, and reimagining where we can go,” Hilfiger said in a statement announcing the deal.

Now, Cadillac has confirmed Kentucky-based Jim Beam as its official spirits partner.
“We are excited to bring the soul of Kentucky to the global stage of Formula 1 with Cadillac, a brand that’s been part of the Beam family’s story through the ages,” Rashidi Hodari, managing director, James B. Beam Distilling Co., said in a news release.
“Both car racing and making Jim Beam bourbon require every individual and moving part to come together to create a positive collective outcome. The pit crew and our distillery workers both rely on the power of their communities to win. It’s this common understanding and the importance of connection with the next generation of Formula 1 fans that inspires us.”

Cadillac is still looking for a title sponsor, and its going to need a big check. According to Sports Business Journal, the asking price is between $55 million to $70 million per season on a five year deal.
Cadillac is almost sorted in the driver’s department, with veterans Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas signed on as its primary drivers and American IndyCar star Colton Herta set to be its test driver. However, it still needs a reserve driver with an FIA Super License that can step in if Perez or Bottas can’t make a race. Herta still needs to get one and will likely be competing in the Formula 2 series next season to earn the necessary points.
Cadillac will be using Ferrari power units until 2029 when General Motors begins producing its own.
