The federal electric vehicle tax credit may be gone, but the deals keep coming.

Automakers have been looking to keep the battery-powered metal moving with new incentive programs that range from cut-rate financing to big price chops, and Ford is about to do the latter to its biggest EVs.

The 2026 F-150 Lightning lineup is set to feature a new SXT model that replaces the current XLT with a bigger battery pack and an all-terrain setup for the same $63,345 starting price (not including shipping). The battery upgrade alone is worth several-thousand dollars.

Ford is also reducing the price of the $69,995 Flash trim to $65,995, without removing any content. It will similarly lower the Lariat by $2,000, from $76,995 to $74,995, Ford has confirmed to Cars Direct.

The F-150 Lightning has been the best-selling electric pickup this year with 10,005 delivered in the third quarter as shoppers rushed to beat the Sept. 30 deadline for the tax credit which applies to all trims with MSRPs below $80,000. A total of 23,034 were delivered through the first nine months of the year, which is roughly the same as the same period in 2024.

Ford’s initial plans for the F-150 Lightning were to be selling 150,000 annually by now, but the full-size EV truck market didn’t develop as quickly as expected and it reduced its targets and production. It has also delayed the launch of its next-generation full-size EV pickup, which is now slated to go on sale in 2028, at the earliest.

It will have a smaller on on sale before then, however, as it is developing a $30,000 electric pickup that’s about the same size as the current Maverick and should be ready by 2027.

Ford hasn’t released any details about it, including range, but did say it will be as quick as a Ford Mustang with the turbocharged four-cylinder Ecoboost engine. It is also being designed around a simple architecture that’s easy to manufacture, so it can build it in the U.S. without losing money on it and be competitive with Chinese EVs.

Full pricing and feature information for the 2026 F-150 Lightning has not yet been released and the 2025 model remains on sale.
