The 2026 Jeep Wrangler’s Doors Come Off Without Tools — Here’s How

A lot of Jeep Wrangler owners love to wrench on their vehicles, but new ones will no longer need tools to complete a common task.

Full details for the 2026 Wrangler have not yet been released, but Mopar posted a video on YouTube last month that’s gone under the radar with barely 1,000 views that confirms a long-awaited new feature.

The Door Removal How To clip reveals that the 2026 Wrangler’s doors have been redesigned so that they can be removed without tools.

Current models have Torx screws securing the hinges and check arm that keeps the door from hyperextending when open, but the new design doesn’t require either.

Instead, the check arm pin has a clip on it that is simply flipped up to allow it to be removed, and the hinges are designed so that the hinge pins can be removed from the barrels when the door is open 90 degrees.

The check arm pin is then clipped back into its position for storage. There are still wiring harnesses that need to be disconnected, but they have clips that don’t require tools, as demonstrated in the video.

Jeep owners who frequently remove their doors often just leave the screws out of the hinges, but that’s not recommended by the automaker and the check arm screw still needs to be removed.

Oddly, a video posted by Jeeps on the Run, which got its hands on a 2026 Wrangler before its release, notes that the door hinge storage bins in the cargo area are still there, even though they are no longer needed.

We’ll bring you more on the 2026 Wrangler when it is released, but the only thing Jeep has publicly confirmed so far is that the purple Reign paint color that was previously offered in 2018 and 2023 has returned to the options list.
