Cadillac Formula 1 Team test driver Colton Herta has landed a full-season Formula 2 ride for 2026.

The IndyCar veteran has signed with the Hitech, which field cars for Luke Browning and Dino Beganovic this season. Browing is currently third in the points standings and Beganovic eighth.

“I’m incredibly excited to be joining Hitech for the 2026 FIA Formula 2 season. This is a big shift in my career, and I’m ready for the challenge,” Herta said in a Hitech news release.

Cadillac had announced plans to help Herta secure a seat in Formula 2, which will allow him to get racing experience on 14 of the 24 tracks Formula 1 visits. Herta raced for eight seasons in IndyCar and finished second in the championship standings in 2024.

“I’ve loved my time in IndyCar and I’m proud of everything I achieved, but the opportunity to race in F2 – to compete on the Formula 1 calendar, against some of the best young drivers in the world – was one I couldn’t pass up,” Herta said.

“Hitech has an excellent reputation and a proven track record, and I’m confident it’s the right environment for me to develop and perform. I want to thank them for believing in me and providing the platform to make this step.”
