The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ Returns, But Not To The USA
The Toyota Land Cruiser just had a baby.
Toyota has revealed an all-new Land Cruiser FJ compact SUV in Japan. The model looks like a scaled down version of the latest Land Cruiser and is a real deal truck.
It features an update of the modern, blocky styling theme that was first revealed on the Compact Cruiser EV concept in 2021.
Sadly for American fans who’ve been waiting for the return of a small FJ, it isn’t slated to be sold in the USA. Here’s what we’re missing:
SIZE IT UP
The new four-door FJ is about the same length as a Toyota Rav4, which makes it slightly shorter than the last FJ that was discontinued for the U.S. in 2014 and a foot shorter than the current Land Cruiser. Like its larger sibling, it will be offered with both rectangular and round headlights.

TRUCK STUFF
The FJ is built on a body-on-frame truck chassis it shares with a small pickup called the Hilux Champ that is sold in other countries for less than $15,000. It is powered by a longitunidally-mounted 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 161 hp and 181 lb-ft that powers a standard part-time four-wheel-drive system.

DIY
The FJ’s bumpers feature removable corners for easy repair and customization. Toyota will also offer a larger range of accessories from a roof rack to an air intake snorkel.

The FJ comes with a six-speed automatic transmission and its interior features a truck-like design and stadium-style seating with a raised rear bench. Pricing has not yet been announced, but it is scheduled to go on sale in the middle of 2026.

SIDEKICK
Toyota is also developing a Land Hopper off-road folding electric trike it expects to sell as a compliment to the FJ, but has not yet finalized a date for its launch.
